Why are memoirs the best genre of books?

Question by H: Why are memoirs the best genre of books?

So I'm writing an argumentative essay on why memoirs are the best type of books, and I'm looking for some various opinions on why people might think this is true. Any ideas?

i love reading memoirs. :D
My opinion is that it teaches us to see the lives of so many different people through their eyes, therefore broadening our understanding of human emotion. Also, it can make us change negative opinions by seeing others opinions through there words on paper, whereas arguing in real life we tend to ignore voices. Oh, and if you read about people who have gone through such hardships it makes you more aware of the world and how lucky you have it.
I like them mainly because memoirs are true stories, and i like to read about truth and not fake emotion or experiences.
that's my two cents, i read too much.. haha
